Negaunee High School Boys Tennis Team Dominates Mid-Peninsula Conference Meet for 13th Consecutive Year
The Negaunee High School boys tennis team continues to showcase their dominance in the sport, as they secured their 13th consecutive Mid-Peninsula Conference meet championship in Iron Mountain. Under the guidance of coach Kyle Saari, the Miners displayed their prowess on the court by winning seven out of the eight flights and scoring an impressive 45 out of a possible 48 points.
Despite facing changing rosters each year, Coach Saari’s winning formula remains consistent, leading the team to yet another remarkable victory. Reflecting on their success, Saari emphasized the importance of learning how to win each year and commended the team’s leadership for motivating them towards future achievements.
The competition was fierce, with Westwood finishing in a distant second place with 27 points, followed closely by Ishpeming and Iron Mountain. The Miners’ exceptional performance not only secured their conference title but also set the stage for the upcoming MHSAA Upper Peninsula Division 1 finals.
Coach Saari highlighted standout performances from players like Ethan Harris and the doubles tandem of Nolan O’Dovero and Easton Guenette, praising their dedication and strategic play on the court.
