The Los Angeles Lakers have been making significant changes to their coaching staff in the aftermath of head coach Darvin Ham’s firing. Following Ham’s departure, all of his assistants were also let go as the team looks to start fresh with a new coaching regime.

One notable assistant, Chris Jent, who spent the last two seasons with the Lakers, has found a new home with the Charlotte Hornets. According to reports, Jent will be joining Charles Lee’s staff as an assistant coach, bringing his experience from the Lakers to the Hornets.

Interestingly, Lee was a candidate to replace Ham in Los Angeles but opted to take the Hornets job instead. The Hornets are looking to build a strong team for the upcoming season, with rising star Brandon Miller leading the way. Additionally, they are hopeful to have star guard LaMelo Ball back healthy for the 2024-25 campaign.

The shakeup in the Lakers’ coaching staff has created opportunities for assistants like Jent to find new roles in the league. As the NBA offseason progresses, it will be interesting to see how the coaching carousel continues to turn and how these changes will impact the upcoming season for both the Lakers and the Hornets.
