The 58th version of the Karlovy Vary Movie Pageant is set to showcase an impressive lineup of 32 films, including 15 directorial debuts and the latest works of established filmmakers. The festival, which will run from June 28 to July 6 in the Czech Republic, promises a diverse selection of films that explore a wide range of themes and genres.
Among the notable films featured in the Crystal Globe Competition are “Impolite to Love,” a drama about a marriage losing its spark, “Banzo,” a story set in 1907 about a mysterious affliction called banzo, and “Pierce,” a thriller about a man released from juvenile prison.
In the Proxima Competition, films like “Windless,” which follows a man returning to his native Bulgaria, and “The Alienated,” which explores the concept of evil in human nature, will be judged by a panel of industry experts.
Additionally, special screenings of films like “The Music of Others” and “The Other One” will offer unique perspectives on various social and cultural issues. The festival will also feature documentaries, personal essays, and experimental films that push the boundaries of storytelling.
