Rev. Michael McBride, a prominent figure in the Black Church PAC, has taken a bold stance against President Biden’s support for the war in Gaza. Despite his criticism of the administration’s handling of the situation, he is now leading an effort to defeat former President Donald Trump in the upcoming election.

The initiative, known as “Defeat by Truth,” is a political action committee that aims to raise funds by automatically donating in response to social media posts made by Mr. Trump, particularly on Truth Social. The money raised will support progressive organizations in swing states and aid candidates critical of Israel’s military campaign in Gaza.

Mr. McBride emphasized the importance of holding the Biden administration accountable while also working to prevent a potential return of Mr. Trump to the White House. The project builds on the success of a similar campaign in 2020, which raised over $9 million.

Supporters of the effort include well-known figures like W. Kamau Bell, Tamika D. Mallory, and Philip Agnew, as well as a coalition of faith leaders and activists. The goal is to raise and distribute $15 million by November and engage one million voters of color, especially in battleground states.

As the campaign gains momentum, organizers hope to energize Black and brown grassroots activists and address the concerns of disaffected Black voters. Despite the challenges ahead, Mr. McBride and his team are determined to make a difference and push for change in the upcoming election.
