The Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences has announced a major executive reorganization that includes several promotions and departures within the organization responsible for handing out the prestigious Oscars.
Jacqueline Stewart, the Academy Museum director, is stepping down from her role, and Amy Homma has been named as her successor. Homma, who currently serves as the museum’s chief audience officer, will now lead the strategic creative vision of the Academy Museum. Stewart, a renowned film scholar and TCM host, will be returning to the University of Chicago to resume her scholarship, writing, and teaching.
In addition to Homma’s promotion, Jennifer Davidson, the chief communications officer, has been promoted to chief marketing and communications officer. Davidson will now oversee marketing and audience development, communications, digital/social, and creative brand strategy for all arms of the Academy, including the Academy Foundation, Academy Museum, and the Oscars.
Jenny Galante has been appointed as the chief revenue officer, tasked with driving diversified and global revenue growth for the Academy. Matt Severson has been named the executive vice president of academy collection and preservation, overseeing all archival, preservation, registration, conservation, and cataloging work of the Academy’s extensive collections.
The reorganization also includes the retirement of Randy Haberkamp, the executive vice president of library, archive, and SciTech, who has been with the Academy for nearly 25 years. Despite his retirement, Haberkamp will continue in a consultant role until next spring.
These changes mark a significant shift within the Academy as it continues to evolve and adapt to the ever-changing landscape of the film industry.
