The upcoming weekend in the Panhandle region is set to be a mix of warm, sunny weather and critical fire conditions, according to Storm Search 7 Chief Meteorologist Corbin Voges.

On Friday night, the temperature is expected to drop to a chilly 43 degrees with clear skies. Saturday will bring sunny and warm weather with a high of 81 degrees, accompanied by breezy winds from the west at 10-20 mph. Saturday night will remain mostly clear but chilly, with a low of 47 degrees and winds shifting to the west/southwest at 10-20 mph.

However, the real concern comes on Sunday, as strong winds and critical fire conditions are forecasted. The high temperature will reach 78 degrees with west/southwest winds blowing at 20-30 mph, gusting up to 40 mph. Due to the threat of critical fire conditions, a Fire Weather Warning will be in effect on Friday from 12-9 PM CDT, and a Fire Weather Watch will be in effect on Sunday from 11 AM – 7 PM CDT.

Voges also mentioned that the warm, dry, and breezy conditions are expected to continue through Easter weekend, urging residents to stay weather aware and follow wildfire safety tips. A cold front is expected to move in on Monday and Tuesday, bringing chances of rain and thunderstorms to the area.

As the solar eclipse approaches on April 8th, Voges advised that the Panhandle region may see an 80-90% eclipsed sun, pending clear skies. However, there is a chance for storms in Texas and Arkansas, which could obstruct the view of the eclipse.
