Hezbollah Commander Assassinated in Israeli Air Strike in Lebanon
In a targeted air strike on Monday, the Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) confirmed the assassination of Ali Ahmed Hassin, a senior commander of Hezbollah’s elite Radwan commando unit in Lebanon. Hassin, who was the commander in the Hajir region, was killed in Sultaniyeh in southern Lebanon along with two other Hezbollah members under his command.
The IDF stated that Hassin was a key operative in the terrorist organization, responsible for planning and executing attacks against Israeli civilians in northern Israel. The army also revealed that Hassin had orchestrated numerous rocket attacks against Israel since Hezbollah joined forces with Hamas in their attacks on Israel on October 8.
This recent strike comes amidst heightened tensions in the region, following the killing of a top Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps commander in Damascus last week. Both Iran and Hezbollah have vowed to retaliate at the appropriate time.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reiterated Israel’s stance on self-defense, stating, “Whoever harms us or plans to harm us – we will harm them.” Defense Minister Yoav Gallant also emphasized that Israel is prepared for any scenario that may arise in response to threats from Iran.
The escalating situation has raised concerns about potential retaliation from Iran and Hezbollah, with threats being made against Israeli embassies worldwide. The region remains on high alert as the conflict between Israel and its adversaries continues to unfold.
