Spain solidified its reputation as the fine dining center of the world with six of its eateries making it to the World’s 50 Best Restaurants for 2024 list. The prestigious awards, often dubbed the Oscars of global fine dining, were presented at a ceremony in Las Vegas, with Barcelona’s Disfrutar claiming the top spot.
Owned and operated by chefs Oriol Castro, Eduard Xatruch, and Mateu Casanas, Disfrutar wowed diners with imaginative and playful dishes like the caviar-filled Panchino doughnut and frozen gazpacho sandwich. Asador Etxebarri from Atxondo, Spain, secured the second spot on the list, known for its unbeatable barbecue that highlights the quality of ingredients.
Paris also made its mark on the list with Table by Bruno Verjus coming in third. Madrid’s Diverxo followed closely behind in fourth place. Lima’s Maido rounded out the top five, showcasing the culinary prowess of the Peruvian capital.
The list also highlighted other culinary hotspots around the world, with New York City’s Atomix claiming the title of the best restaurant in North America. Tokyo, Bangkok, and Hong Kong also made a strong showing, with multiple restaurants from each city earning a spot on the list.
