Missouri State University has officially named Joey Hawkins as the school’s third head baseball coach. Hawkins, a former MSU shortstop and current associate head coach, will take over from Keith Guttin, who retired after a 42-year career leading the Bears.

In other sports news, the St. Louis Cardinals played last night, and fans can catch all the games on KUKU 100.3 and News Talk Radio KWPM. Additionally, the St. Louis Blues are gearing up for the 2024 NHL Draft, where they will have nine picks, with their first pick at No. 16 overall.

As part of National Fishing and Boating Week, the Eleven Point Ranger District of the Mark Twain National Forest will host a youth fishing day at Ripley Lake this Saturday. Kids ages 2-15 are invited to participate, and fishing licenses are not required for the weekend. The event will run from 8 a.m. to noon, with door prizes for the first 50 kids.

Locally, the Class 3 district 9 baseball team includes players from Licking, such as Rusty Buckner, Silas Antle, Kellar Davis, Keyton Cook, and Kale Cook.
