Top Performers in Industrial and Energy Sectors on Friday

In afternoon trading on Friday, Industrial stocks are the best performing sector, higher by 0.2%. Within that group, United Rentals Inc (Symbol: URI) and W.W. Grainger Inc. (Symbol: GWW) are two large stocks leading the way, showing a gain of 2.3% and 2.1%, respectively. Among industrial ETFs, one ETF following the sector is the Industrial Select Sector SPDR ETF (Symbol: XLI), which is up 0.5% on the day, and up 8.11% year-to-date. United Rentals Inc, meanwhile, is up 13.01% year-to-date, and W.W. Grainger Inc. is up 8.79% year-to-date. Combined, URI and GWW make up approximately 2.2% of the underlying holdings of XLI.

The next best performing sector is the Energy sector, up 0.2%. Among large Energy stocks, Schlumberger Ltd (Symbol: SLB) and Halliburton Company (Symbol: HAL) are the most notable, showing a gain of 2.4% and 1.3%, respectively. One ETF closely tracking Energy stocks is the Energy Select Sector SPDR ETF (XLE), which is up 0.2% in midday trading, and up 8.84% on a year-to-date basis. Schlumberger Ltd, meanwhile, is down 13.07% year-to-date, and Halliburton Company, is down 4.32% year-to-date. Combined, SLB and HAL make up approximately 5.8% of the underlying holdings of XLE.
