Superstar Rajinikanth has left Chennai for Delhi to attend the swearing-in ceremony of Prime Minister Narendra Modi for his third consecutive term. The actor expressed his admiration for Modi’s achievement and the strong opposition elected in the recent Parliament elections, which he believes will lead to a healthy democracy.
Rajinikanth also congratulated Naam Thamizhar Katchi (NTK) coordinator Seeman for recording a predominant vote share in the election. Modi is set to be sworn in as Prime Minister at 7:15 PM today, making him the only leader after Jawaharlal Nehru to be elected for a third consecutive term after completing the full tenure of each previous term.
The ceremony will also see members of Modi’s council of ministers taking their oath. Delhi has been abuzz with preparations, with posters featuring the PM-designate put up across the city. Around 1,100 traffic police personnel have been deployed to manage traffic movement for the event.
Several leaders and state heads from neighboring regions and the Indian Ocean region have been invited as distinguished guests, highlighting India’s ‘Neighbourhood First’ policy. The event is expected to be a grand affair, symbolizing the democratic transition of power in the world’s largest democracy.
