A Great Day for Vanderbilt Women’s Tennis: Sweet Victory for the Dores

The Vanderbilt women’s tennis team pulled off a thrilling 4-3 victory over Ohio State in the second round of the NCAA Regional at the Ty Tucker Tennis Center in Columbus, Ohio. The match came down to the wire, with Célia-Belle Mohr clinching the win for the Commodores in a hard-fought battle against Irina Cantos Siemers.

Vanderbilt got off to a strong start by securing the doubles point, with Mohr and Holly Staff dominating their opponents with a 6-0 victory. The team continued to fight in singles, with Bridget Stammel delivering a crucial win over Luciana Perry on Court 2.

The match came down to the wire, with the score tied at 3-3. It was up to Mohr to secure the win for Vanderbilt, and she did not disappoint. In a thrilling third set, Mohr overcame Cantos Siemers to seal the victory for the Commodores.

“I am very proud of the way my teammates and I competed,” said Mohr. “From one to six, the girls were battling, which gave me confidence to survive and advance in my match.”

With this victory, Vanderbilt advances to the NCAA Super Regionals in Charlottesville, Virginia, where they will face fifth-seeded Virginia on Saturday. The team is looking to carry the momentum from this hard-fought win into the next round of the tournament.
