The search for Katy Perry’s replacement on American Idol is heating up, with music icon Lauren Alaina throwing her hat in the ring for a different role. In an interview with ET, Alaina expressed her desire to replace longtime host Ryan Seacrest when he eventually departs the show.
“I would really love that, but I think I might have a hard time, like, critiquing people,” Alaina admitted. “I’d rather host it when Ryan Seacrest departs. They could call me!”
Unfortunately for Alaina, Seacrest shows no signs of leaving anytime soon, as he has been a staple of the show through all its iterations. In the meantime, Alaina is focusing on her music career and recently tied the knot with her love, Cam Arnold.
While Alaina may not be vying for Perry’s spot, other contenders are stepping up to the plate. Jelly Roll has already declared himself as Perry’s replacement, stating, “Consider? I’ve accepted the job and they haven’t offered it.”
Meghan Trainor is also making a strong case for the position, practically begging to be chosen as a coach or judge on the show. “Please. Choose me to be a coach… or judge. I will give my whole heart and soul. I promise. Please pick me, choose me, love me. I will do everything,” Trainor pleaded.
With multiple contenders vying for the coveted spot on American Idol, the decision on Katy Perry’s replacement is sure to be a tough one for the show’s producers. Stay tuned for more updates on this developing story.
