AB de Villiers shares his thoughts on Mumbai Indians’ performance in IPL 2024

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Former South Africa cricketer AB de Villiers has weighed in on Mumbai Indians’ performance in the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2024, stating that “everything is going wrong” for the team led by Hardik Pandya. In a recent commentary on his official YouTube channel, De Villiers emphasized the need for Mumbai Indians to win five out of their last six matches to stay in contention.

Despite their struggles, De Villiers still believes that Mumbai Indians are “possibly on paper the best team in the IPL.” In their recent match against Rajasthan Royals, Mumbai Indians suffered a nine-wicket loss after posting a total of 179/9, with Tilak Varma and Nehal Wadhera being the standout batters.

The Royals’ Sandeep Sharma shone with the ball, taking five wickets for just 18 runs, while Trent Boult claimed two wickets. Yashasvi Jaiswal’s impressive century guided Rajasthan Royals to victory, with Piyush Chawla being the sole wicket-taker for Mumbai Indians.

Currently, Mumbai Indians are placed eighth on the IPL 2024 standings with six points from three wins out of eight matches. Their next challenge will be against Delhi Capitals at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Saturday.

With a star-studded squad including the likes of Rohit Sharma, Jasprit Bumrah, and Hardik Pandya, Mumbai Indians will be looking to turn their fortunes around in the remaining matches of the tournament. Stay tuned for more updates on their journey in the IPL 2024.
