Bailee Farrer, a dedicated educator and farmer, is paving the way for a new educational experience for children with the launch of Back to the Basics Academy. Combining her passion for animal science and agricultural education, Bailee is on a mission to provide hands-on learning opportunities for young minds.
Bailee’s journey began at Berry College, where she obtained her Bachelor of Animal Science degree. She furthered her education by pursuing a Master’s degree in Middle-Grade Science and Agricultural Education, solidifying her expertise in both academic and practical fields. With eight years of experience as a teacher in science and middle-grade agriculture, Bailee brings a wealth of knowledge to her new venture.
Located in the Gore Community of Chattooga County, Bailee resides with her two children, Oaklyn and Colt. Drawing inspiration from her own family, Bailee founded Back to the Basics Academy to offer children a holistic education that goes beyond traditional classroom settings. The academy focuses on hands-on learning experiences that help children develop essential life skills.
Back to the Basics Academy stands out as a unique alternative to conventional schooling, blending academic learning with practical life skills. The curriculum includes activities such as cooking, money management, gardening, animal care, and teamwork, providing children with valuable knowledge that extends beyond textbooks.
A standout feature of the academy is its four-day-a-week program, allowing children ample time to immerse themselves in their surroundings and learning experiences. By emphasizing ‘learning by doing,’ Bailee ensures that every child has the opportunity to explore, experiment, and grow in a nurturing environment.
For parents who have considered homeschooling but faced challenges, Back to the Basics Academy offers a compelling solution. Children can benefit from diverse educational experiences while enjoying the freedom and flexibility of a farm-based learning environment.
To learn more about Back to the Basics Academy and how it can transform your child’s educational journey, Bailee invites parents to attend an interest meeting on Thursday, May 16th, at 7 p.m. The meeting will be held at 237 Gore Subligna Rd in Summerville.
