Former WVU Interim Basketball Coach Josh Eilert Lands Assistant Coaching Job at Utah

In a tale of two coaches, former West Virginia University interim basketball coach Josh Eilert found himself on a different path than baseball coach Randy Mazey. While Mazey was on the cusp of leading the Mountaineers to their first-ever Super Regional, Eilert was accepting an assistant coaching position at Utah.

Eilert’s journey was a tumultuous one, stepping in as the interim coach for Bob Huggins during a challenging season. Despite facing numerous obstacles, including player transfers, recruiting challenges, and NCAA suspensions, Eilert persevered with determination and resilience.

While Mazey was fulfilling his dream of leading WVU baseball to new heights, Eilert found himself in a tough spot, fighting an uphill battle in the competitive Big 12 conference. Despite the setbacks, Eilert remained focused on doing his best and proving himself worthy of a permanent coaching position.

After a challenging season, Eilert’s hard work and dedication paid off as he landed an assistant coaching job at Utah, a team entering the Big 12 for the first time. Armed with the experience gained from his time at WVU, Eilert is ready to contribute to Utah’s success and make a positive impact in his new role.

While Eilert’s coaching journey may have had its share of ups and downs, his resilience and determination have ultimately led him to a new opportunity at Utah. As he embarks on this next chapter in his coaching career, Eilert is poised to make a lasting impact and continue to grow and develop as a coach in the competitive world of college basketball.
