Achol Set to Make Debut at TCS World 10k in Bengaluru

Kenya’s Emmaculate Anyango Achol, the world’s second-fastest 10K woman runner, is set to headline the prestigious TCS World 10K Bengaluru event on April 28. Anyango, who clocked an impressive 28:57 in Valencia, will be making her debut in Bengaluru and is excited to be part of the renowned race.

“I am thrilled to be in Bengaluru for the first time for this incredible event, which is known for being one of the best 10K races globally. I have heard so much about the running events in India and the revolution they started nearly two decades ago. I am looking forward to giving my best performance and facing the strong competition in the women’s category,” Anyango expressed.

Joining Anyango in the women’s elite lineup are five of her countrymates, all with timings faster than the event course record of 30:35. The team includes Lilian Rengeruk Kasait, Faith Chepkoech, Loice Chemnung, Cintia Chepngeno, and Grace Nawowuna, making them a formidable force to reckon with.

On the men’s side, Kenya’s Peter Mwaniki Aila leads the elite lineup with the fastest time of 26:59. He will be joined by other top Kenyan runners like Bravin Kipkogei Kiptoo and Bravin Kiprop, who have impressive timings to their credit.

The TCS World 10K Bengaluru will feature a total prize pot of $210,000, with the winners in each category taking home $26,000. Additionally, there is a course record bonus of $8,000 up for grabs.

With a star-studded lineup and fierce competition expected, the 2024 edition of the TCS World 10K Bengaluru promises to be an exciting and thrilling event for both participants and spectators alike.
