In a thrilling matchup between two elite pitchers, Rylee Weiskerger led Silver Creek to a 1-0 victory over Forestville in Chautauqua-Cattaraugus Athletic Association Division 1 East softball action on Thursday.

Weiskerger, the Black Knights’ ace right-hander, was dominant on the mound, throwing a two-hitter with an impressive 17 strikeouts and three walks. She also made an impact at the plate, scoring the game’s lone run in the first inning.

Forestville’s junior pitcher, Megan Gruber, was nearly as impressive, tossing a three-hitter with seven strikeouts and one walk. Gruber recorded her 300th career strikeout in the first inning, a milestone that was celebrated by her teammates.

Despite both pitchers putting on a show, it was Weiskerger who ultimately came out on top, showcasing her talent and determination throughout the game. Silver Creek’s head coach, Justin Cerne, praised Weiskerger’s work ethic and drive to be great, highlighting her impact on the team’s success.

With the win, Silver Creek improved to 9-1 overall and 6-0 in Division 1 East, positioning themselves as a top contender in the league. Forestville, ranked No. 12 in the Class D rankings, fell to 5-4 overall and 2-4 in the league.

The game was a testament to the skill and determination of both teams, with Weiskerger’s standout performance proving to be the difference-maker in a tightly contested matchup.
