The highly anticipated Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 has been officially confirmed as this year’s flagship game for the franchise. Activision announced that a Black Ops 6 Direct event will take place following the Xbox Games Showcase on Sunday, June 9. The event will start at 10 a.m. for the full reveal, with the Black Ops 6 Direct immediately following.

Treyarch, the lead studio, has had an extended four-year development cycle for Black Ops 6, which is longer than the typical three-year cycle for Call of Duty games. The marketing campaign for the game carries the tagline “The Truth Lies,” and Raven Software has also been involved in the development process.

Leaks suggest that Black Ops 6 will continue the story from the 1980s setting of the previous game, Black Ops: Cold War, to the Gulf War of 1990-91. The teaser hints at a civil war in the U.S. with the use of the mysterious Cerberus logo. Insider Gaming’s Tom Henderson predicts that the game will debut on October 25.

Furthermore, Microsoft’s acquisition of the Call of Duty franchise through its purchase of Activision Blizzard last October has sparked rumors of the game coming to Xbox Game Pass. This potential move could also lead to changes in the pricing tiers for the subscription service. Fans and gamers alike are eagerly awaiting the release of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 and the exciting new gameplay experiences it promises to deliver.
