The Perham Area Community Center was buzzing with excitement on Sunday, April 28, as young entrepreneurs showcased their businesses at the Acton Children’s Business Fair. The event, now in its second year, saw a significant increase in participation, with 53 youth vendors taking part.
Organized by the Roots and Wings Forest School in New York Mills, the fair was a collaboration with the Perham Area Chamber of Commerce to provide a platform for the next generation of entrepreneurs. Students from Roots and Wings Forest School had to apply for a loan through the school to start their businesses, showcasing their creativity and business acumen.
One standout participant was 8-year-old Fin Gordon, who ran a business called Fin’s Lures, offering homemade fishing lures and other fishing accessories. Another young entrepreneur, 8-year-old Hazel Hassett, impressed customers with her Camping Queen Firestarters, made from creative materials like cupcake wrappers and dryer lint.
The fair also featured siblings Greta, Gabrielle, and Amelia Gillespie, who sold clay magnets through their business, The Clay Clan. Other businesses included JoZo Coffee, run by 10-year-old siblings Josiah and Zoe Kratzke, and Brothers Creations, run by Jaxon and Mack Hilleren, offering bookmarks and postcards.
Overall, the event was a huge success, with a diverse range of products and enthusiastic young entrepreneurs showcasing their talents. The community came out in full force to support these budding business owners, making the Acton Children’s Business Fair a memorable and inspiring event for all involved.
