Anuj Sharma, known for his role in ‘Padmaavat’, recently shared his experience working with renowned filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali in the upcoming series ‘Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar’. In an exclusive interview with ANI, Sharma revealed how he landed the role after initially facing rejection during the audition process.
Recalling the moment he was approached for the role, Sharma said, “I had worked with him in ‘Gangubai Kathiawadi’ and ‘Padmaavat’. I still remember, I was at home when I got a call at night to start shooting the next day. Despite facing rejection in the audition, Bhansali personally called Sharma and praised him, calling him his ‘lucky charm’.
The series ‘Heeramandi’ explores the stories of courtesans and their patrons, set against the backdrop of the Indian freedom struggle of the 1940s. The star-studded cast includes Manisha Koirala, Sonakshi Sinha, Richa Chadha, and others.
Sharma also shared his experience working with co-stars Aditi Rao Hydari and Taha Shah Badussha, praising their dedication and talent. He expressed his joy in collaborating with such talented actors on the project.
