According to a report by Nasscom, India ranks first in AI skill penetration, with the potential to add billions to the country’s GDP by 2025. Industry leaders like upGrad and Coursera are witnessing a surge in enrolments for AI courses, reflecting a growing interest in developing AI skills across all career levels.

Mayank Kumar, co-founder of upGrad, highlighted the high demand for specialized skills, with enrolments in AI courses reaching impressive figures. Raghav Gupta, MD of Coursera, echoed this sentiment, noting a quadrupling in demand for GenAI content on their platform.

AI is seen as both a disruptor and an enabler, with the potential to reshape industries and transform education. The National Program on AI in India aims to guide research and development in emerging technologies, with a focus on sectors like healthcare, agriculture, education, and smart cities.

Universities like the Indian Institute of Technology Delhi are introducing AI courses for undergraduate students, while management institutes and art colleges are also following suit. The integration of AI is not limited to tech-driven industries, with administrative officers and media professionals also embracing the technology.
