After 29 years, people are finally understanding the true meaning of NSYNC

Boy band NSYNC took the late 1990s and early 2000s music scene by storm, winning 35 awards and receiving 66 nominations for their catchy tunes and dreamy looks. However, many fans are just now discovering the origins of the band’s iconic name.

Formed in 1995 by Chris Kirkpatrick in Orlando, Florida, NSYNC consisted of Kirkpatrick, JC Chasez, Joey Fatone, Lance Bass, and Justin Timberlake. The band quickly rose to fame, securing numerous accolades including the 1999 Favourite Pop/Rock New Artist at the American Music Awards and the 2001 Favourite Pop Group at the Billboard Music Awards.

In a surprising revelation, Lance Bass disclosed in 2004 that NSYNC had officially disbanded after a two-year hiatus. However, the band reunited last year to release the single “Better Place” for the DreamWorks animated film “Trolls Band Together 2023.”

The band’s name, NSYNC, has a dual meaning. According to an interview with Larry King, Justin Timberlake’s mother played a role in naming the band after commenting on how “in sync” the boys were when they sang. Additionally, NSYNC is an acronym of the last letter of each original member’s first name – JustiN, ChriS, JoeY, LanstoN, and J.C.

Fans have expressed mixed reactions to this revelation, with some suggesting alternative acronyms like JCJJJC or JC^2 + J^2. Regardless, NSYNC’s legacy as one of the most iconic boy bands of the late 90s and early 2000s remains intact.
