County of Simcoe Recognizes Age-Friendly Champions

The County of Simcoe has opened nominations for its Age-Friendly Business and Age-Friendly Individual Recognition and Achievement Awards, aiming to honor those who have made strides in creating more accessible and welcoming age-friendly communities. The nomination period runs until June 30, with the awards ceremony set to take place in the fall.

The Age-Friendly Business Recognition Awards highlight businesses that have catered to the older adult population in Simcoe County and have taken steps to enhance services for this demographic. Businesses and organizations are encouraged to participate in the program by assessing their age-friendliness using the Self-Assessment Checklist provided.

Winners of the Age-Friendly Business Recognition Award will receive a complimentary digital marketing package, a certificate, a door decal, and recognition through various platforms such as press releases, social media, and the county website.

County of Simcoe Warden Basil Clarke expressed the council’s commitment to supporting age-friendly initiatives and ensuring the needs of older adults are met. Jane Sinclair, General Manager of Health and Emergency Services in Simcoe County, emphasized the importance of celebrating efforts made by companies and individuals while providing resources for businesses to better serve older adults.
