The Velva-Drake/Anamoose Aggies are making a statement in the high school baseball scene as they swept the defending region champion Bishop Ryan Lions in a doubleheader on Thursday. In the first game, the Aggies took the lead in the sixth inning with a triple from Reggie Brunner followed by a two-run homer from Luke Selzler. Despite a late rally from Bishop Ryan, the Aggies held on for a 6-2 victory.

Pitcher Wesley Nicholson was a standout for the Aggies, pitching a complete game and allowing only two runs on seven hits. In the second game, the Aggies continued their dominance with a strong offensive showing, scoring four runs in the first inning. Despite a weather delay, they maintained their lead and ultimately won 9-4.

Coach Matt Weidler praised his team’s performance, highlighting their ability to stay focused and play well despite the weather disruptions. With the wins, the Aggies improved to 12-3 overall, while Bishop Ryan fell to 8-3 on the year.
