Ahmed bin Saeed launches the 31st Middle East Petroleum & Gas Conference – Business – Energy

The 31st edition of the Middle East Petroleum & Gas Conference (MPGC) kicked off today with a grand inauguration by His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum, Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council for Energy. The prestigious event, hosted by ENOC Group and organised by S&P Global Commodity Insights, is being held at The Ritz-Carlton, Dubai International Financial Centre until 22 May 2024, under the theme “Evolving Core Energy Markets within a Sustainable Landscape”.

The opening ceremony of MPGC was attended by key industry leaders, including His Excellency Saeed Mohammed Ahmad Al Tayer, Vice Chairman of the Dubai Supreme Council of Energy, and Chairman of ENOC Group, along with ENOC Board Members, ENOC management, and other stakeholders in the petroleum and gas industries.

The conference aims to address the balance between fossil fuels and renewable energy in the face of global oil and gas flow disruptions, energy security concerns, and geopolitical challenges. This year’s edition of MPGC also includes three training courses hosted by experts to equip participants with the knowledge and tools needed to navigate the complexities within the energy sector.

His Excellency Saif Humaid Al Falasi, Group CEO of ENOC and Co-Chairman of Middle East Petroleum & Gas Conference, highlighted the importance of the event as a global platform for industry specialists to engage in discussions on recent trends, potential issues, and effective solutions. He emphasized the role of the conference as a catalyst for dialogue, innovation, and advancement in the energy sector.

The three-day event features two optional tracks focusing on downstream activities, low-carbon projects, and emerging energy trends. MPGC 2024 will delve into topics such as sustainable energy in the aviation and maritime sectors, refinery optimization, gas and hydrogen interactions, carbon intensity in commodities trading, the circular carbon economy, and regional advancements in hydrogen and its derivatives. The conference aims to provide valuable insights into developing a sustainable energy future amidst changing industry landscapes.

MPGC 2024 is expected to draw over 400 participants from various regions, including the Middle East, Asia, Africa, Europe, and the Americas. Attendees will include leading traders, oil and gas majors, national oil companies, refiners, consultants, technologists, banks, exchanges, legal firms, regulators, renewable energy players, and other industry stakeholders.
