The battle between Macs and PCs is heating up once again, with Microsoft claiming to have tipped the scales back in its favor with its new Copilot+ PCs. Apple has long been ahead in terms of battery life and performance, but Microsoft’s latest offering promises to change the game.
Microsoft’s consumer chief marketing officer, Yusuf Mehdi, explained that the company has developed more powerful silicon and rewritten Windows 11 to take advantage of it. The Copilot+ PCs feature special neural processing units (NPUs) that can run AI apps locally, providing a unique experience for users.
The introduction of Copilot Recall makes it easier for users to search for documents, photos, and web pages on their PCs, enhancing productivity. Microsoft’s first Copilot+ PCs will hit the market in June, starting at $999, the same price as Apple’s MacBook Air.
In terms of performance and battery life, Microsoft is touting its Qualcomm Arm-based Snapdragon X Elite and Snapdragon X Pro chips, which offer better battery life and performance compared to Apple’s M3 chip. The company claims that Copilot+ PCs running on Qualcomm’s chips outperform Apple’s MacBook Air in various aspects.
While Microsoft currently has the edge in the AI race, Apple is expected to make a comeback at its upcoming WWDC event on June 10. The tech giant is likely to announce its own AI apps and services, as well as new chips that could outpace Qualcomm’s offerings.
The competition between Macs and PCs is heating up, and tech enthusiasts are eagerly awaiting the next moves from both Apple and Microsoft. Stay tuned for more updates on this exciting battle in the tech world.
