AI-powered Crime GPT aiding police in crime detection | Technology News

A pickpocket strikes in a dimly lit alleyway, stealing a wallet from an unsuspecting man. The victim, realizing the theft later, rushes to the nearest police station in hopes of recovering his wallet and important documents. This scenario is all too common in India, where pickpocketing is a prevalent crime.

However, law enforcement faces challenges in tackling such crimes due to unstructured data and outdated record-keeping systems. In a bid to revolutionize the way security forces approach criminal investigations, a Gurugram-based tech startup, Staqu Technologies, has developed an AI-powered platform called Trinetra 2.0.

Founded by a team of AI experts in 2015, Staqu Technologies aims to make law enforcement more efficient and effective. Their flagship product, Trinetra 2.0, integrates a powerful language model called Crime GPT, which can analyze unstructured data and provide accurate responses.

Atul Rai, Co-founder, and CEO of Staqu Technologies, explained that Crime GPT can sift through thousands of physical documents, such as First Information Reports (FIRs) and interrogation records, to provide relevant information to law enforcement officers. The model can comprehend natural language queries and generate detailed insights on suspects, crimes, and police records.

The innovative solution has already been adopted by nine state police forces in India, including Uttar Pradesh, Bihar, Rajasthan, Haryana, and Punjab. The response from law enforcement officials has been positive, with the technology streamlining investigations and enhancing operational efficiency.

Looking ahead, Staqu Technologies plans to expand its capabilities to include audio and video analytics, transforming traditional CCTV cameras into intelligent devices capable of generating real-time insights. With Crime GPT leading the way, the future of law enforcement in India looks promising.
