The University of Dubai and the Artificial Intelligence Journalism for Research and Forecasting (AIJRF) have joined forces to launch the Arab Index for Artificial Intelligence in Universities (AIU), a groundbreaking initiative that aims to monitor and analyze the integration of artificial intelligence technologies into Arab universities.
The AIU measures 6 main indicators through 18 sub-indicators, including educational curricula, university professors, smart laboratories, student skills, and scientific research. A total of 30 Arab universities have been selected to participate in the AIU 2024.
Dr. Eesa Al Bastaki, President of the University of Dubai, emphasized the importance of integrating artificial intelligence technologies into higher education in the Arab region. He stated that universities must keep pace with technological advancements to ensure that students are equipped with the necessary skills for the future job market.
Dr. Mohamed Abdulzaher, President of AIJRF, highlighted the goal of the AIU to motivate Arab universities to integrate artificial intelligence technologies into all aspects of the educational process. The index aims to support the development of skills among professors, administrative staff, and students, while promoting the culture of artificial intelligence in Arab universities.
Dr. Saeed Aldhaheri, President of the AIU, pointed out the growth opportunities in artificial intelligence in the Arab region. He stressed the importance of aligning university strategies with global trends in technology to ensure the modernization of education systems.
Professor Seham Nassar, Deputy Director of the AIU, mentioned that the index provides technical and professional support to universities looking to integrate artificial intelligence tools into their educational indicators. The AIU has a team working in 10 Arab countries to support universities in this endeavor.
The Arab Index for Artificial Intelligence in Universities is a global initiative that aims to measure the integration of artificial intelligence technologies in Arab universities. Through this index, Arab universities are encouraged to embrace artificial intelligence and prepare students for the future workforce.
