AI’s Impact on Banking Highlighted at Science and Technology Festival

The recent three-day Science and Technology Festival showcased the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI) to help children gain financial literacy. Hosted by the Ministry of Industry, Innovation, Science and Technology and the University of the West Indies, Cave Hill Campus’ Faculty of Science and Technology, the event featured an interactive AI Avatar named Tiffany.

Tiffany, developed by CIBC Caribbean, engaged children in conversations about financial matters, products, services, and banking-related topics. The AI Avatar utilized natural language processing and machine learning to provide personalized customer service and information to the young participants.

In addition to Tiffany, attendees at the festival had the opportunity to experience a virtual reality (VR) tour at the CIBC booth. This immersive experience allowed participants to explore the world while learning about various banking products and services, offering a glimpse into the future of banking.

According to Deputy Chief Information Officer – Delivery Services (ag), Trevor Wood, the bank’s participation in the festival was part of their commitment to showcasing digital capabilities and cutting-edge technology. He emphasized the importance of utilizing technology to create transformative experiences and redefine the banking landscape in the Caribbean.

The innovative use of AI and VR at the Science and Technology Festival not only provided children with valuable financial literacy skills but also highlighted the potential for technology to revolutionize the banking industry in the region.
