Bollywood actor Akshay Kumar was spotted casting his vote early in Mumbai as the fifth phase of the Lok Sabha elections kicked off in Maharashtra. Dressed in a green shirt and blue pants, the ‘Hera Pheri’ star made his way to the polling station in the morning to exercise his franchise.
After voting, Kumar addressed the media, expressing his desire for a developed and strong India. He emphasized the importance of voting for what one believes is right and predicted a good voter turnout for the elections.
Bollywood siblings Farhan Akhtar and Zoya Akhtar also joined Kumar in exercising their right to vote early in the morning. The ongoing Lok Sabha elections in Maharashtra’s 6 Lok Sabha seats of Mumbai are part of the fifth phase, which also includes constituencies like Dhule, Dindori, Nashik, Kalyan, Palghar, Bhiwandi, and Thane.
With Maharashtra having 48 Lok Sabha seats, the elections are being held in seven phases from April 19 to June 1, with results to be declared on June 4. Over 8.95 crore voters, including males, females, and third-gender electors, will decide the fate of 695 candidates in this phase.
Key leaders like Rahul Gandhi, Rajnath Singh, Smriti Irani, and others are contesting in this phase across eight states/UTs. To ensure a peaceful voting atmosphere, a significant number of surveillance teams are monitoring the polling stations.
