Alaska Airlines Expands West Coast Service with New Routes and Increased Frequencies

Alaska Airlines is set to enhance its West Coast presence with the launch of two new routes and the expansion of existing services starting October 1. The Seattle-based carrier announced the addition of nonstop flights from San Diego International Airport to Las Vegas’ Harry Reed International Airport, as well as a new route from Los Angeles International Airport to Tri-Cities Airport in Pasco, Washington.

The new routes are part of Alaska’s strategy to cater to growing demand and offer more options for travelers. The addition of Las Vegas as a destination from San Diego will bring the total number of nonstop routes offered by Alaska from the city to 39.

In addition to the new routes, Alaska will also be increasing frequencies on nine different routes out of LAX, including additional daily round trips to major hubs like Seattle and Portland, as well as more flights to cities like Eugene, San Jose, and Boise.

Alaska’s decision to expand its services comes on the heels of a notable increase in business travel, particularly within the tech sector. The airline reported a significant surge in corporate travel in February and the first quarter of the year, outpacing gains seen by competitors like Delta and United Airlines.

With a focus on Southern California growth and a positive outlook on the return of business travel, Alaska Airlines is poised to meet the needs of travelers and continue its expansion in the region.
