Five-time DP World Tour winner Alex Levy is gearing up for the UAE Challenge at Saadiyat Beach Golf Club after an impressive runner-up finish at the Abu Dhabi Challenge. The Frenchman’s recent success has propelled him to second on the 2024 Road to Mallorca Rankings, and he is eager to maintain his momentum in the upcoming tournament.
Levy, who narrowly missed out on retaining his playing rights on the DP World Tour last year, is determined to secure a spot on golf’s Global Tour through the Race to Mallorca Rankings. With the top 20 players earning a card at the end of the season, Levy is focused on delivering strong performances to achieve his goal.
The Challenge Tour has been gaining prominence, with graduates like Matteo Manaseero and Jesper Svensson already clinching victories on the DP World Tour. Levy acknowledges the talent on the tour and is excited to compete against the rising stars to earn full playing rights once again.
The UAE Challenge will feature a competitive field, including Abu Dhabi Challenge champion Porteous, former Abu Dhabi Championship winner Gary Stal, and UAE’s No.1 professional golfer Joshua Grenville-Wood. The tournament will also provide opportunities for UAE-based amateurs and professionals, thanks to the Emirates Golf Federation’s partnership with the European Tour group.
Levy commends the initiative to promote golf in the UAE and believes it offers valuable experience for young players. As he prepares for the tournament, Levy reflects on the growth of the game in the region and hopes to see more aspiring golfers emerge from the UAE in the future.
