Allegations of bullying against Meghan Markle could damage her lifestyle brand

Meghan Markle’s new lifestyle brand, American Riviera Orchard, is facing potential tarnish due to recent “bullying” allegations against the duchess. Business development consultant Hilary Fordwich expressed concerns about the impact of these claims on Markle’s brand, stating, “Where there’s smoke, there’s fire.”

Former palace aide Samantha Cohen recently confirmed being one of 10 staffers questioned about allegations that Markle bullied palace employees. Cohen, who previously worked for Queen Elizabeth, was tasked with preparing Markle for royal life in 2017. However, she resigned in 2018, comparing her job to “working with teenagers.”

Royal expert Tom Bower suggested a clash of cultures between Markle and palace staff, leading to tensions. The Times reported in 2020 that communications secretary Jason Knauf documented allegations of Markle bullying staff members, which Markle and Prince Harry denied at the time.

Despite the denials, Cohen’s recent interview has reignited the spotlight on the bullying claims just as Markle is launching her lifestyle brand. Experts fear this could negatively impact American Riviera Orchard’s success.

As Markle prepares to introduce her products, including jars of jam, the future of her brand remains uncertain. The American Riviera Orchard website is currently static, with visitors encouraged to provide their email for updates. With the brand bearing Markle’s title as the Duchess of Sussex, the looming allegations may cast a shadow over its launch.
