The Alpena High School girls’ soccer team had a day to remember as they dominated the competition in the Sunrise Side Challenge Cup on Saturday. The Wildcats hosted the tournament and faced off against four opponents, emerging victorious in all four games.

In the first game against Bay City Central, Reese Wisniewski set the tone early with a goal, leading the team to a 4-0 win. The Wildcats continued their winning streak in the second game against Beaverton, with Sophie Kindt and Wisniewski scoring to secure an 8-0 victory.

The third game against Sault Ste. Marie proved to be a challenge, but Alpena managed to come out on top with goals from Wisniewski and Faith Dragiewicz, ending with a 2-0 win. The Wildcats then faced Hazel Park in the final match, where Dragiewicz, Wisniewski, and Kindt shined, leading the team to a 7-0 victory and securing the championship trophy.

Coach Supiran praised the team’s performance, highlighting standout players like Dragiewicz, Wisniewski, Alberts, and Kindt. The Wildcats’ success in the tournament has boosted their confidence and momentum moving forward in the season.
