Amae Health is creating a face-to-face approach to mental healthcare in a digital world

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Sonia García and Stas Sokolin are on a mission to revolutionize the mental healthcare system with their startup, Amae Health. The duo, who have personal experiences with the challenges of caring for loved ones with severe mental illness, decided to take matters into their own hands and create a comprehensive solution.

Sokolin, whose sister battled bipolar disorder, and García, who lost her father to suicide and cared for her brother with schizoaffective and bipolar disorder, were brought together by their shared passion for improving mental healthcare. They launched Amae Health in 2022, offering a unique approach that brings together various resources, including therapy, social workers, psychiatric care, and medicine management, all under one roof.

The startup recently secured a $15 million Series A funding round led by Quiet Capital, with participation from Healthier Capital, Baszucki Group, and Index Ventures partner Mike Volpi, among others. This funding will support Amae Health’s expansion plans, with new clinics set to open in Raleigh, North Carolina, Houston, Ohio, and New York.

Unlike many mental health startups that focus on digital solutions for anxiety and depression, Amae Health is committed to providing in-person care for individuals with severe mental illness. This approach sets them apart in the industry and reflects their dedication to delivering quality care and lasting change for their patients.

While some investors may be skeptical of Amae Health’s slower growth strategy, Sokolin and García remain steadfast in their mission to prioritize patient outcomes over rapid scaling. With a focus on intentional growth and quality care, Amae Health aims to become the go-to provider for individuals with severe mental illness, making a meaningful impact on their lives.
