Ambati Rayudu criticizes RCB’s ‘excessive celebrations’ following IPL 2024 elimination

Former India and CSK cricketer Ambati Rayudu has taken a swipe at RCB’s aggressive celebrations following their elimination from the Indian Premier League 2024. The Faf du Plessis-led CSK side suffered a defeat against RR in the Eliminator game, knocking them out of the tournament.

Rayudu criticized RCB for their over-the-top celebrations after defeating CSK in their last league fixture, emphasizing that passion and aggressive celebrations alone cannot win trophies. Despite playing in all 17 seasons of the IPL, RCB is yet to secure a championship title and has finished as runners-up three times.

The cricketer highlighted the importance of planning and playing with hunger to clinch the IPL trophy, stating, “You didn’t get the IPL trophy just by reaching the playoffs. You have to play with the same hunger. Don’t think you will win the IPL trophy just by beating CSK. You will have to come next year once again.”

RCB faced backlash on social media for their wild celebrations and alleged disregard for CSK legend MS Dhoni during their victory. Rayudu also pointed out Bengaluru’s lack of faith in Indian talent, noting that only Virat Kohli has scored over 1000 runs for the franchise.

Despite a slow start to the season, RCB managed to win their last six matches to secure a playoff spot. However, their journey was cut short by RR, who ended their losing streak and advanced to the next stage. The franchise will now focus on rebuilding their squad in the upcoming mega auction to finally end their 16-year-long trophy drought.
