American Airlines launches exclusive flight from Philadelphia to Brazil

American Airlines is breaking new ground with a special, one-time-only flight from Philadelphia to Sao Paulo, marking the first nonstop service from the Philly hub to South America. This 4,734-mile route will operate just once on Sept. 5, coinciding with the National Football League’s first-ever game in South America on Sept. 6, featuring the Philadelphia Eagles against the Green Bay Packers.

In a nod to the city and its hometown team, American Airlines is designating special flight numbers for this service. Flight 215, named after the city’s main area code, will be the southbound sector, while Flight 62, in honor of retiring center Jason Kelce, will be the northbound sector. The airline will also offer sweepstakes for AAdvantage members who are Eagles fans.

The Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner will be deployed for this special flight, offering 20 business-class lie-flat pods, 28 premium economy recliners, 48 extra-legroom Main Cabin Extra seats, and 138 standard economy seats. Tickets for this unique flight will go on sale on April 29, and with the limited availability of seats on the 234-seat jet, fans are encouraged to book early.

While American Airlines is making this special flight available for Eagles fans, Green Bay supporters may have to catch a nonstop flight from Chicago or connect through Philadelphia to make it to the game in Sao Paulo. This special flight is sure to be a hit with fans, offering a rare opportunity for direct travel between Philadelphia and South America.
