Formula 1 Fanatic Turns Beauty Entrepreneur

Amy Dollimore, a former beauty therapy student from Darlington College, has made a bold move by opening her own beauty therapy business. The 24-year-old, who is a dedicated McLaren fan and rugby enthusiast, recently took over the beauty therapy concession at Shine hair and beauty salon in Northallerton.

Amy’s journey began at Darlington College, where she obtained her Level 2 and 3 diplomas in beauty therapy, nail technology, non-surgical treatments, and massage. After working in a pub and treating family and friends with her own equipment, she landed a job at Shine salon, where she eventually took over the beauty side of the business.

Despite initial hesitations, Amy’s business is thriving, with a focus on wedding and holiday preparation treatments. She prides herself on creating a welcoming environment for all clients, including a significant number of male customers who feel comfortable seeking services like spray tans and massages.

“I’m a people person and love hearing about clients’ lives,” Amy shared. “One of my client’s sons works in F1, so it’s great to hear how he’s getting on. I’m in my element listening.”

Claire Hankey, Darlington College’s marketing and engagement manager, expressed delight at Amy’s success, highlighting her as a prime example of the rewards that come from hard work and dedication. Amy’s story serves as an inspiration for aspiring entrepreneurs and beauty enthusiasts alike.
