Mariah Anderson Leads USC Rebels to Victory with Perfect No-Hitter
In a dominating performance, Mariah Anderson, the star pitcher for the United South Central Rebels softball team, led her team to a shutout victory against the Triton Cobras with a perfect no-hitter game. The Rebels secured a 7-0 win in the game played at Thompson Field in Wells on Tuesday, April 23.
The USC team showcased their offensive prowess with 10 hits, including triples by Brylee Neubauer and Kendall Harpestad, and doubles by Anderson, Hannah Niebuhr, and Taylor Schroeder. Harpestad and Anderson each contributed two hits, while other players like Neubauer, Niebuhr, Schroeder, Olivia Bungum, Alivia Bruegger, and Carissa Hanson also added to the hit count.
Despite leaving 10 runners on base, the Rebels managed to score two runs in the third inning and another five in the sixth. Anderson’s pitching performance was flawless, with no runs, hits, or walks allowed, and an impressive 16 strikeouts against the Triton batters.
Looking ahead, the Rebels are set to face Waterville-Elysian-Morristown in their next game, with upcoming matches against Faribault Bethlehem Academy and Blooming Prairie. The team’s recent victories, including a 20-0 win against Granada-Huntley-East Chain/Truman and a close 2-0 loss to Randolph, highlight their competitive spirit and determination as they continue their season.
