Anil Kumble and Shane Watson Back Kolkata Knight Riders to Win IPL 2024 Trophy Over Sunrisers Hyderabad

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Anil Kumble and Shane Watson have picked Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) as the favourites to lift the IPL 2024 title against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) in the final at MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai on Sunday. Kumble believes KKR’s firepower in both batting and bowling gives them the edge, while Watson feels SRH’s advantage of knowing the wicket without dew will be countered by KKR’s fresh and challenging approach.

The IPL 2024 season has been a run-fest with teams scoring 250 plus runs eight times, a record-breaking feat. Both KKR and SRH have been at the forefront of this onslaught, with SRH crossing 250 in three games and KKR achieving the score twice.

Former India all-rounder Suresh Raina highlighted the importance of spin in the summit clash and praised Pat Cummins’ leadership skills, which led Australia to their sixth ODI World Cup victory last year.

KKR, led by Shreyas Iyer, will be aiming to lift their third IPL trophy after a 10-year wait, while SRH, captained by an Australian cricketer, are playing their first final in six seasons. KKR last won the title in 2014 under Gautam Gambhir’s leadership, while SRH secured the title in 2016 with David Warner as captain.

The final promises to be a thrilling encounter between two powerhouse teams, with KKR looking to continue their dominant form and SRH seeking redemption after their loss in the 2018 final. The stage is set for a mouth-watering battle for the IPL 2024 trophy.
