Annual Summit Provides NU’s Sports Management Students with Insider’s View of Industry

Niagara University’s College of Hospitality, Sport and Tourism Management recently hosted its annual Sport Management Summit, providing students with a unique opportunity to explore the diverse career options within the sports industry. The weeklong conference featured a lineup of esteemed speakers, including Buffalo News sports reporter Clevis Murray, Southeastern Conference commissioner Greg Sankey, and executives from companies like Delaware North and the Buffalo Bills.

One of the highlights of the summit was the third annual Sabres/NU Night, where participating students had the chance to attend a career development panel with the Buffalo Sabres, take a facility tour, and watch the Sabres face off against the Philadelphia Flyers at KeyBank Center. The event also included an informative session on the sport of Korfball led by certified coach Dankmar Caderius van Veen.

Throughout the week, students engaged in interactive workshops, keynote speeches, and networking opportunities with industry professionals. The summit aimed to provide students with valuable insights into the various sectors of the sports industry and help them identify potential career pathways.

The summit concluded with a “lunch and learn” session featuring presentations by Niagara University sports management alumni, who shared their experiences and insights with the current students. Overall, the Sport Management Summit was a resounding success, offering students a comprehensive look at the exciting and evolving field of sports management.
