Williamsport Track and Field Athletes Ready to Shine at State Championships

After a disappointing performance at the state championships last year, Williamsport track and field athlete Anyae Grissom is ready for redemption. Grissom, a Duquesne commit, is set to compete in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles at the upcoming state meet in Shippensburg.

Last year, Grissom faced a series of mishaps at the state meet, from losing her spikes to running with her jersey on backwards. Despite the setbacks, Grissom has used the experience as motivation for this year’s competition.

“I am so excited to redeem myself at states. I feel like the fact I had a whole year to think about losing my spikes and doing bad and literally getting last place, I’m so ready to just go,” Grissom said.

Grissom, who recently won gold in the 100 hurdles and 300 hurdles races at the district championships, is aiming to set a new personal record at the state meet. She is determined to perform better than last year and secure a spot on the podium.

In addition to Grissom, Williamsport’s Madeline and Isabelle Sanders have also had impressive seasons, setting school records and breaking District 4 records in the 1,600 and 3,200 events. The sisters are looking to continue their success at the state championships.

Both Grissom and the Sanders sisters are excited to compete at the state meet and are determined to give their best performance. With their sights set on redemption and success, these Williamsport athletes are ready to shine on the state stage.
