App State Tennis Set to Compete in UTR NIT Championship

BRADENTON, Fla. – App State Tennis is gearing up for their second consecutive national postseason tournament appearance as the No. 5 seed in this year’s UTR NIT Championship. After a strong showing in the Sun Belt Tournament final, where they finished as runners-up, the Mountaineers are ready to take on No. 4 seed Liberty in the first round on Monday in Bradenton, Fla.

This marks the second time in program history that App State has made back-to-back postseason appearances, showcasing their consistency and competitiveness on the court. The Mountaineers are coming off an impressive run in the Sun Belt Tournament, where they defied the odds as the seventh seed to reach the championship match.

Last year, App State was a No. 4 seed in the inaugural NIT event and finished with a 1-1 record. They are looking to improve on that performance this year and make a deeper run in the tournament. Led by standout player Savannah Dada-Mascoll, who has won 20 singles matches this season, the Mountaineers are poised for success.

The UTR NIT matches will be available for streaming on Amazon Prime Video, allowing fans to cheer on their favorite teams from anywhere. With a potential matchup against either Colorado or St. Mary’s College in the semifinals, App State is focused on making a statement in this year’s championship.

As the 2023-24 tennis season kicks off, sponsored by Hound Ears Club, all eyes are on the Mountaineers as they aim to make their mark in the UTR NIT Championship and bring home a title for their program. Stay tuned for more updates and results as the tournament progresses.
