Apple resumes discussions with OpenAI for iPhone AI features | Tech News

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Apple Inc is in talks with OpenAI to incorporate generative AI technology into the upcoming iPhone features, according to a report by Bloomberg News. The discussions have been renewed, and Apple is considering using OpenAI’s technology to power new features in the iPhone set to be released later this year.

The potential agreement between Apple and OpenAI would involve integrating OpenAI features into Apple’s next iPhone operating system, iOS 18. While Apple has not made a final decision on which partners to use, the company could also reach an agreement with Alphabet Inc’s Google or choose another provider altogether.

Generative AI technology allows for the generation of human-like responses to written prompts, a feature that Apple has been slower to roll out compared to competitors like Microsoft and Google. Apple CEO Tim Cook had previously mentioned that the company was investing significantly in generative AI and would unveil more about its plans to utilize the technology later this year.

The partnership with OpenAI could potentially enhance the user experience on iPhones by providing advanced AI capabilities. As technology continues to evolve, integrating AI features into smartphones has become increasingly important for companies like Apple to stay competitive in the market.

Both Apple and OpenAI have not yet responded to requests for comment on the potential collaboration. However, with the growing interest in AI technology, this partnership could pave the way for innovative features on future iPhone models.
