Renowned music maestro AR Rahman is all set to captivate the audience in Malaysia with his upcoming concert at the National Stadium Bukit Jalil on July 27, 2024. The event, organized by Star Planet, Malaysia’s premier entertainment company, promises to be a musical extravaganza like no other.

In addition to his concert in Malaysia, Rahman recently made waves at the 77th edition of the Cannes Film Festival, where he unveiled the first look and teaser of his latest venture, a feature documentary titled ‘Headhunting to Beatboxing’. Directed by Rohit Gupta and produced by Rahman himself, the documentary explores the evolution of music across different cultures and generations, showcasing the transformative power of music in society.

Speaking about the documentary, Rahman expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “Music has this transformative power to change society and to connect and bring relevance to existence.” The film delves into the rich musical traditions of headhunting tribes and the modern-day musical renaissance, offering audiences an immersive and enlightening musical journey.

The launch event at the Cannes Film Festival was attended by Rahman, director Rohit Gupta, and other dignitaries, including Abu Metha, Advisor to the Chief Minister, Government of Nagaland. Metha shared, “The germ of the idea came up when AR Rahman visited Nagaland to be part of the legendary Hornbill Festival. We knew we had to be part of it.”

With ‘Headhunting to Beatboxing’, Rahman continues to push boundaries in the realm of filmmaking, following his earlier production ’99 Songs’. The documentary promises to showcase the magic and diversity of music, transcending cultural barriers and celebrating the universal rhythm that unites humanity.
