Arizona Men’s Tennis Makes History with First Pac-12 Championship Final Appearance

In a thrilling semifinal match, the Arizona Men’s Tennis team secured their spot in the Pac-12 Championship final for the first time in program history. The Wildcats faced off against #61 Oregon and came out on top with a 4-1 victory on Friday evening in Ojai, California.

The match started off with intense doubles competition, where Arizona dropped the doubles point to the Ducks after defeats on courts one and two. However, the Wildcats fought back in singles competition with impressive performances from key players.

Gustaf Strom and Sasha Rozin set the tone for Arizona with a strong 6-2 win in doubles, but it was Herman Hoeyeraal and Eric Padgham who ultimately clinched the victory for the Wildcats. Hoeyeraal secured a swift straight-set win on court four, followed by #34 Jay Friend’s dominant performance on court two.

The match came down to #20 Colton Smith on court one, who sealed the deal with a 6-4, 6-3 victory over #90 Quinn Vandecasteele. Casper Christensen then clinched the match for Arizona with a decisive win on court five.
