Arrowhead Regional Medical Center (ARMC) has been recognized for its exceptional support of Black maternal health by U.S. News & World Report during Black Maternal Health Week 2024. Out of 26 hospitals nationwide, ARMC stood out for its top outcomes in cesarean section and unexpected newborn complications among Black patients.
Dr. Kristina Roloff, a Maternal Fetal Medicine and Obstetrics and Gynecology physician at ARMC, expressed gratitude for the honor. U.S. News identified hospitals that were rated High Performing in their Best Hospitals for Maternity Care, served a significant number of Black patients annually, and maintained low rates of newborn complications and c-sections among Black patients.
Jennifer Winston, a health data scientist at U.S. News, highlighted the importance of celebrating hospitals like ARMC for their dedication to advancing Black maternal health. She emphasized the significance of health equity and women’s access to quality maternity care.
Black Maternal Health Week, founded by the Black Mamas Matter Alliance (BMMA), is observed annually in April as part of National Minority Health Month. This year marks the seventh annual Black Maternal Health Week, with the theme #BMHW24. The community is encouraged to join the conversation on social media platforms.
