Army Symposium Focuses on Future of Holistic Health and Fitness

Leaders from the U.S. Army, industry, and academia gathered at the Hampton Roads Convention Center for the 2024 Holistic Health and Fitness (H2F) Symposium. With over 1,200 attendees and 55 vendors, the event focused on the future of the H2F program, which has transformed how the Army approaches individual Soldier health and readiness.

Keynote speaker Sgt. Maj. of the Army Michael Weimer emphasized the importance of leaders embodying H2F principles to integrate them into the Army’s fitness culture. Maj. Gen. John Kline provided updates on fielding H2F Performance Teams to brigades and the development of a data management system to expand H2F access.

Maj. Gen. Bob Harter highlighted early success with an H2F pilot program in the U.S. Army Reserve, showcasing the impact of trained teams on Soldier fitness and deployability. The Army Reserve and National Guard are set to field H2F Performance Teams in Fiscal Year 2026.

Recognizing top H2F programs across the Army, Dr. Andrew Thompson presented statistics showing the positive outcomes of H2F resourced units, including reduced injuries and improved deployability. Brig. Gen. Deydre Teyhen commended the teams for achieving results despite turnover.

In conclusion, the symposium underscored the vital role of H2F in preparing Soldiers for the challenges ahead.
