Army veteran utilizing fitness to improve the health of others

Reading Time: < 1 minute

Army veteran Jeff Witherspoon is making a difference in the lives of fellow service members through his fitness program, Eager to Motivate Fitness. With May being both Mental Health Awareness Month and National Military Appreciation Month, Witherspoon is raising awareness about the importance of mental and physical health for veterans.

After serving multiple tours in Iraq, Witherspoon found solace in fitness to cope with the stressors of military life. He launched E2M to provide a structured and supportive environment for veterans transitioning back into civilian life.

Witherspoon’s program includes licensed counselors to help remove stigmas around mental health and provide support for veterans facing complex behavioral health concerns. One of the program’s participants, veteran Bill James, credits E2M with saving his life and helping him lose 50 pounds while improving his overall health.

Both Witherspoon and James are encouraging struggling veterans to seek help and support when returning home. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration emphasizes the importance of communities in ensuring service members, veterans, and their families are prepared for the transition to civilian life.

Through Eager to Motivate Fitness, Witherspoon is not only helping veterans improve their physical health but also providing a sense of camaraderie and support that is crucial for a successful transition back into civilian life.
